T&T Carbide is born in September.

In 1976 we began in a backyard shed when our only objective was to extract carbide from scrap used bits. We were throwing away good bits for some time before we realized we could refurbish the good bits and save well drillers hundreds of dollars with reruns. At that time we added “drill bit supply” to our “T&T Carbide” name, and our business grew to a proud Drill Bit Company which is now housed in a state of the art 7,000 square foot facility, in which we do all of our own work “In-House”. We do not ship our dirty work off for someone else to do. We complete the project from start to finish and that’s how we guarantee its done right!

Over time we have purchased machinery, welders, lathes, drill presses, drilling tools and milling machines. We can now basically remanufacture any drill bit necessary to satisfy our customer.

T&T Carbide is a family owned and operated business that Rick Thomas started 30 years ago, along with wife Nancy. Their son Adam, born the year before, grew up in the business and now knows his bits inside and out just like dad does. Together they have come up with new and innovative methods for refurbishing the drill bits.
As time went on Adam has become one of their best salesmen. One day Rick will proudly turn the reins over to Adam.

In the early days, Rick would buy scrap TCI drill bits and extract the carbide from them to sell. Shortly afterwards he added rerun/rebuilt drill bits and then introduced the new surplus drill bits. We now supply a large variety of sizes, types and formations of the rotary Tricone rock bits. Steel tooth & TCI drill bits are available for use in many different applications of drilling, such as water well, oil field, construction, geothermal, directional boring, environmental and foundation work all over the world.

With selling the drill bits and buying the scrap bits, Rick was on the road for weeks at a time. Back then, it took delivering the drill bit to a customer and shaking his hand to seal the deal, but now with the fax machine and the internet it has made it possible for Rick to be home with family and still do business all over the world.
What begun as a backyard venture, has grown into an international drill bit supply business.
